Lauren Reeves is a comedy writer, TV producer, and accidental true crime icon (drop dead, Nancy Grace). Born and raised on an actual gold mine in Fairbanks, Alaska—yes, there were woolly mammoth tusks in the backyard and no, that’s not a metaphor—Lauren got blood on her boots as a teenage news reporter covering crimes committed by people with names like “Papa Pilgrim.” At twenty, she swapped cold cases for cocktails and moved to New York to chase her comedy dreams.
Her writing has appeared on Comedy Central’s @Midnight, MTV’s Ex On The Beach, The Village Voice Pride Awards, and The Clio Awards, where she once wrote jokes for Amy Sedaris, Cecily Strong, and Alan Cumming and lived to tell the tale. In 2024, her wildly addictive Substack series Trashley became the internet’s favorite lesbian catfish saga—serving up dark humor, identity fraud, and cliffhangers so tense, readers tried to astral project into the next chapter.
Lauren lives in Los Angeles with her codependent golden retriever, Perci, who insists on eating Just Food for Dogs and considers Trashley his origin story. When she’s not writing about con artists, she’s probably plotting her next escape to Europe—or the wine aisle at Erewhon.
Lauren writes like she’s lighting a cigarette with a secret. You may think you know where the story’s going, but with Lauren, there’s always another twist.
